Built by one person who was tired of watching the money leave.

Amblee is built by one person. John Harzan makes it as Amblee LLC, a Delaware company, and there is no team behind the name. What there is: an iPhone app, this site, and one idea that both take seriously.

Every blocker gates on time or willpower. A timer opens when the clock runs out. A toggle opens the moment you decide to flip it. None of them gates on the actual harm, and the harm is not the hour lost in the app. It is the money that left your savings and did not come back. The research is blunt about it: every $1 of online sports betting deposits is associated with just under $1 less in net household investment, and net investment falls about 14% after legalization.

So the unlock is a deposit. Not a waiting period, not a mood check, not a promise: a verified transfer into an account you own, for the number you set, this month. A bank connection through Plaid sees it clear, or you log the screenshot and only the amount leaves your phone. Move the money back out and the block returns, because what counts is net. On the 1st everything re-arms.

That led to the first constraint, fixed at the start: Amblee never holds, moves, or invests your money. It can see that a deposit happened and it can never touch the balance. The second constraint is about this site as much as the app: no invented statistics, no fake reviews. There are no testimonials here because none have been earned yet, and there will be no made-up ones in the meantime. Every number names its source next to it, every screenshot is labeled sample data, and every projection says what it assumes.

What comes next is deliberately small: a US relaunch of the app, on iPhone, and then finding out whether the gate holds for the people who install it. That is the whole plan worth stating out loud today.
